A real espresso bar, in the footprint of an A4 sheet.

Start with what it is. A traditional espresso machine and two grinders, built into a single piece of kit the width of an A4 sheet of paper. A serious bar machine you can put on a counter where a full traditional setup would never fit, and at a price well below buying the espresso machine and the grinders separately. For a cafe, a bakery or a restaurant tight on space, it is a proper espresso bar without the bench it usually demands.

Press a button and it grinds, tamps and pulls the shot to the exact recipe set for that drink, from your choice of two beans. A real espresso with a proper crema, the same every time, with no skill needed on the coffee side. The cup tastes like it came off a cafe bar, because in effect it did.

The standout is the steam arm. A proper semi automatic wand textures the milk by hand in a jug, and two things follow from that. The microfoam on a cappuccino or a flat white is the real thing, glossy and smooth. And any milk works: dairy, oat, soy, almond, whatever your customers ask for, each one textured fresh in its own jug. For a cafe in a world of alternative milks, that flexibility is worth a great deal.

Two locking hoppers and twin grinders run two coffees at once, our house blend and a decaf, or a guest blend you rotate. We dial our own beans in to the machine so every shot draws the best out of them. Our coffee and this machine together put a genuinely high quality cup on the bar, the sort that brings people back for another.

Underneath, it is built to keep pace. A 2700W boiler, a dedicated steam boiler and a gear pump hold temperature and pressure shot after shot, so the cappuccino at peak service tastes like the one in the quiet hour. It clears around 200 cups a day comfortably, pours iced drinks straight from the same machine through the summer, and because there are no milk lines or powders inside it, the cleaning stays simple: a daily brewer clean runs through the touchscreen in minutes and can be set to run on its own, and the steam arm gets the wipe and purge any barista already does.

We deliver, install and set it up, plumb it in or fit the barrel kit, fit the filter and have it pouring with your first 6kg of our coffee in the box, and we train whoever is going to use it on install. After that we keep you stocked and we are on the end of the phone whenever you need us. You get the same people every time, who know your setup and answer when you call. That is how we have looked after businesses since 2009.

Common questions

The things buyers actually ask

How much does the JL60 cost?
We build every quote around what your business needs. Get in touch and we will design a complete quote for you, including engineer install, water filter, delivery and your first 6kg of our coffee.
Do we need a trained barista?
Not really. The machine grinds, tamps and pulls the shot automatically, so the espresso side needs no skill. The semi automatic steam arm takes a basic introduction to learn, after which anyone can texture milk for cappuccinos, lattes and flat whites to a cafe standard. We train you on install.
Can it do oat and other alternative milks?
Yes, and this is one of its real strengths. The steam arm textures whatever milk you put in the jug, so dairy, oat, soy and almond all work, each fresh in its own jug. For a cafe serving a range of milks, that flexibility is a big part of why the JL60 fits.
What is the cleaning routine?
Mostly automated. A daily brewer clean runs through the touchscreen in minutes and can be set to run on its own. The steam arm is wiped and purged after use, the same routine any barista already does. No milk lines and no powder canisters inside, so there is no extra cleaning to worry about.
Plumbed in or barrelled water?
Both. Plumbed into mains water if you have a connection. If you do not, the machine runs from a barrelled water supply we set up beside it. Either way the filter is fitted from day one.
